The New Mexico Alliance for Minority Participation (NM AMP) is a statewide partnership of universities and colleges with a goal to increase the number of underrepresented minority students who successfully complete their B.S. degrees in the STEM disciplines. New Mexico AMP supports targeted students through a broad range of activities, including the Undergraduate Research Scholars (URS) program, the STEM PREP program, the Summer Community College Opportunity for Research Experience (SCCORE), the New Mexico AMP Transfer Stipend, an annual Student Research Conference, and the Community College Professional Development Workshop series offered in conjunction with the student conference.

NM AMP’s new research thematic focus is “Climate: Sustainability and Resilience,” which will begin in the Spring semester of 2025. This change in focus will further promote student engagement and encourage interdisciplinary research. Students’ research should emphasize either climate solutions, sustainability, and/or the development of resilient systems in both the natural and built environment, such as the following categories:

  • Adaptive infrastructure
  • Sustainable water systems
  • Healthy ecosystems
  • Community health and vitality
  • Other topics that could relate to climate, sustainability, and resilience
