Community College Professional Development Workshops
The Community College Professional Development Workshops are held the day of and the day after the NM AMP Student Research Conference. These workshops provide participating pre-transfer students to gain an understanding of the goals and purposes of the conference and to help them navigate conference opportunities and activities for the best conference experience. The workshops are highly participatory and include group exercises, individual reflection, and team presentations.
Eligibility
Particular emphasis is placed on supporting groups that historically have been underrepresented in STEM: African Americans, Alaskan Natives, American Indians, Hispanic Americans and Native Pacific Islanders. To participate in the CC Professional Development Workshop program, a student must have the intention to fully transfer to the 4-year institution and pursue the B.S. STEM degree. You must also:
- be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident per NSF guidelines
- be currently enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours in a STEM major at a NM community college
- plan to transfer to a 4-year institution and pursue a B.S. STEM degree
- have a strong interest in and potential for the NM AMP's programs at university
- have a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA
The Community College Professional Development Workshops will take place on the day of and after the conference on Friday, October 4, and Saturday, October 5, 2024 (Note: Community college students will earn a stipend for attendance at these workshops and the all-day conference.).
