Transfer Stipend


The NM AMP Transfer Scholarship is available to students transferring from a 2-year to a 4-year institution to pursue a degree in a STEM discipline. Available to community college students as they begin their first semester at a four-year institution, the scholarship provides important financial assistance of a one-time stipend of $1000 the semester of transfer, once midterm grades and full-time status have been verified.

Eligibility Requirements

Any student from a 2-year institution majoring in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) major is eligible to apply. The National Science Foundation (NSF) sets the preference for participants of the Transfer Stipend program who have been historically underrepresented in STEM: Hispanic or Latinos, African Americans or Blacks, Alaskan Natives, American Indians, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders.

  • U.S. citizenship or permanent resident per NSF guidelines
  • At the time of application, be enrolled full-time (12 credit hours) and maintain this full-time status the semester of transfer
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 at the time of transfer
  • A strong interest in transferring to a New Mexico 4-year institution.
